SquirrelMail is a standards-based webmail package written in PHP4. SquirrelMail is an interface to your organization's email system through the web. It has all the functionality you would want from an email client, including strong support for attachments, address books, calendar and folders. SquirrelMail is also highly customizable. Your systems administrators can write, install, and share 'plugins' on your SquirrelMail server to extend its functionality to meet your organization's needs. Because of the high level of customization available to your organization with SquirrelMail, some of the items in this manual may not apply to you. SquirrelMail is a standards-based webmail package written in PHP. It includes built-in pure PHP support for the IMAP and SMTP protocols, and all pages render in pure HTML 4.0 (with no JavaScript required) for maximum compatibility across browsers. It has very few requirements and is very easy to configure and install. SquirrelMail is stable enough to use in a production system. It is, in fact, already used in several production systems around the world, handling thousands of users per system.
